Ch-ch-ch-changes

My little town is growing.

On one hand, this is an amazing transition, bringing much sought-after changes, like more businesses, more jobs, more money. An incredible economic change.

On the other hand, it's also bringing around some more unpleasant side effects. Heavy traffic, more crime, higher housing costs. I don't even want to get into what kind of a strain it puts on our hospital - we only have one, and it's only designed to handle about 120 inpatients at a time, although we frequently achieve "Code Purple," or maximum capacity, plus some. We're not even staffed well enough to accommodate full capacity. But ANYWAY.

Our local paper is supposed to be running a series about our growth and it's effect on our lives here, with the intention of leaving the population with the information to help make decisions, presumably for things like elections and ballot proposals, or perhaps to make strides towards making changes or influencing or whatever. It'll be interesting to read, I think.

City council is also supposed to be holding a bunch of meetings. I would love to attend and listen to see if they're going to propose any traffic signal or stop sign placements - just so I can rant and rave about how it'll give folks a false sense of security.
