"The Talk": Rehearsal 1
2005-10-14...1:35 p.m.

There are some important things you need to know about.

First of all, as you've noticed, some amazing changes have already started in your body. We've talked about this a little bit. I've showed you where the pads are, just in case you start your first period. This is so you don't have to feel embarrassed at that critical moment. Please remember, though, that if you get scared, or even if you just want to talk about it or cry about it or rejoice about it, I'm here for you, and so is your Dad. If you need him, you'll find that he's a pretty amazing and understanding guy.

You're breasts are growing now, so a bra that fits properly is important for several reasons. First, a bra that's too small will be uncomfortable at the least, painful at worst. One that's too big will be useless and look lumpy under your shirt. Which may prompt nasty rumors that you "stuff" your bra. Second, a bra is important because while you're breasts are changing, they're going to poke out more, and the nipples can get chapped - a bra helps protect against that. Third, sometimes the fabric of your shirt moving across your chest, or even a chill, can make your nipples poke out - this attracts attention and can be VERY embarrassing.

We've already talked about shaving a little bit. When you get your first hair in your armpit, I'll teach you how to shave, and hopefully spare you the common female experience of pulling a strip of skin off. If you DO cut yourself shaving, though, just remember: It may bleed a lot, but it's usually not serious, and you're most likely not going to bleed to death. Just run some cold water on it, and that will help slow down the bleeding.

I think that's all I can take for now. I try to go further, and I damn near shake.
